Fairfield and Stratford Residents Named Barnum Festival Volunteers of the Year

(BRIDGEPORT, Sept. 1, 2015) — Linda Lauritano of Stratford and Angelo Palmieri of Fairfield were named 2015 Barnum Festival Volunteers of the Year. The announcement was made by 2015 Ringmaster Fred Hall at the Festival’s annual Volunteer Picnic held recently at Vazzy’s 19th Hole Restaurant at the Fairchild-Wheeler Golf Course.

“From the Great Street Parade to the fireworks, from Champions on Parade to the Wing Ding, our many dedicated volunteers work diligently to make the Festival run smoothly and successfully every step of the way,” said 2015 Ringmaster Hall. “Our volunteers help make the Festival happen; we couldn’t do it without their efforts.”

Each year, the Festival recognizes the efforts made by volunteers who go above and beyond to ensure the Festival is a successful community celebration.

Mrs. Lauritano, who had previously began her volunteer time under 1995 Ringmaster Mario D’Addario as chairperson and chaperone for the King and Queen Competition, returned this year to serve as co-chair of the 2015 Ringmaster’s Ball as well as volunteering time to assist the Executive Director in the Barnum Festival office.

Mr. Palmieri has been volunteering his time and energy for many years ensuring the Great Street Parade floats are on the street and get through the parade to the enjoyment of the thousands of spectators who line the route. He also has served on the Barnum Sails the Sound Committee for the past several years.

“Linda and Angelo volunteer their time and talent to help create a wonderful experience for everyone who attends a Barnum Festival event — whether it’s the Ringmaster’s Ball or the Great Street Parade,” said Ringmaster Hall. “They both exemplify what the Barnum Festival volunteer is about – a willingness to pitch in wherever needed and a can-do attitude.”

“Linda and Angelo’s commitment and attention to detail are two great examples of what our Festival volunteers are all about,” said Elaine K. Ficarra, Executive Director. “Our volunteers give hundreds of hours of their time each year to ensure that every event goes smoothly and is an enjoyable experience for our audiences.”
