“From Stratford, CT the 2011 Lavinia warren will be….Sa’noma Smart!”

Whoa! Feeling excited. I was unaware that the next 2-3 months would be some of the greatest moments in my life! Writing my essay, I knew little of y role. I knew I was going to be part of the royal Bridgeport’s royal family but had no clue I would be dancing at the Skyblast Party, or riding on the “Best in parade” float at the Great Street Parade. From red shirts and kakis to the gang and I in our formal attire, we had a blast every event. Tom Thumb and the rest of the royal family were amongst some of the friendliest people I have ever met, and to top it off our chaperones rocked!

Every event was another day of excitement being built up until show time! My favorite event had to be the Ringmasters Ball; it was the first time I really met the other Barnum Festival participants, and from that day we all formed an amazing bond! Through rain or sun, town to town the parades were amazing! You always watch them but to actually be in them is such an experience.

Now it’s back to reality! School, homework and chores no more strolling around in jerry’s nice convertible, or prancing around in my beautiful white dress and tiara. Although I enjoy school, sometimes I close my eyes and remember that summer in 2011, probably the best summer that any 10 year old could wish for!
